Dermabrasion is a technique of surgically removing the top skin layer. It is frequently used to smoothen surgical or traumatic scars. Additionally, it has applications similar to laser resurfacing in treating facial wrinkles or acne scars.
Following dermabrasion, the skin is covered with topical ointments that usually heal within 7-10 days.
