Hair restoration utilizes follicular unit hair transplants to provide hair coverage that is both natural and imperceptible. Units of one to three hairs are transplanted from the back where hair growth is plentiful to replace lost hairs in the front or vertex. The transplanted hairs continue to grow similar to those hairs in the back of the head.
A head wrap is typically applied for 2-3 days, after which washing the hair is acceptable. The procedure is done in an office or out-patient setting. Often times multiple procedures are necessary to achieve the desired density. Additionaly procedures offered include scalp reduction and tissue expansion. These other procedures diminish the need for hair transplants by bringing hair from the back and sides to cover the vertex.
